■ Selection

In the case of chain transmission, there is no need to apply excessive initial tension to the chain itself for meshing transmission with the sprocket. Therefore, a small tension just enough to take up the slack in the chain is sufficient for the chain tensioner.
Please select the size of the tensioner according to the chain size from the table below.
In this case, set the tensioner angle to 10–15°. For long chains, please take the weight of the chain itself into consideration.

Usage Example

Usage Examples

■ Idler Settings

ROSTA tensioner unit with sprocket idler usage method 01
Always set the idler on the slack side of the chain or belt before use. For forward and reverse rotation, set the idler on both sides before use.
Rosta tensioner unit with sprocket idler Usage Method 02
When applying tension from the outside of the chain or belt, set the idler on the small sprocket (pulley) side before use.
On the other hand, when applying tension from the inside, please set the idler on the side of the larger sprocket (pulley).

For chain tensioners, make sure that at least three teeth of the sprocket idler are engaged with the chain.
If excessive tension is applied to the chain or belt, the lifespan of the chain, belt, and bearing will be significantly reduced.
Please allow for appropriate slack during use. A setting angle of approximately 10 to 15° is provided as a reference.
When applying tension from the inside of the V-belt, please use a V-pulley idler. For timing belts, please use a timing idler.
Since the tensioner fixing bolts and idler fixing bolts use strength class 8.8, please tighten them to the tightening torque specified below.

[Mounting]

Rosta tensioner unit with sprocket idler Usage Method 03
Align the positioning notch on the flange part of the Rosta tensioner with the designated position as specified in the design. If you mark the support plate or other mounting surface for the Rosta tensioner in advance to correspond with this notch, mounting will be easier. Additionally, this notch can also be used as an anti-rotation feature.
Rosta tensioner unit with sprocket idler Usage Method 04
Attach the Rosta tensioner to the machine using the included tensioner mounting bolts. In this case, please check the strength of the machine mounting section and ensure that the mounting surface is flat. If the Rosta tensioner cannot be mounted directly to the machine, please use a bracket (WS/WD model).
Rosta tensioner unit with sprocket idler Usage Method 05
Hold the outer shell of the Rosta tensioner with a wrench, tighten the included tensioner fixing bolt, and secure the Rosta tensioner. When using the Rosta tensioner near its allowable angle, use a torque wrench and tighten to the specified torque.
Lost Motion Tensioner Unit with Sprocket Idler Usage Method 06
Attach the sprocket idler to the Rosta tensioner. First, securely fix the idler fixing bolt to the arm with the lock nut. Next, adjust the sprocket idler within the specified mounting range (catalog Y dimension), align it with the chain line, and then secure it with two nuts.
Lost Motion Tensioner Unit with Sprocket Idler Usage Method 07
Always set the idler on the inside of the arm when using. If you must set it on the outside of the arm, install it as close to the arm as possible. In this case, the allowable torsion angle is Max. ±15° or less.

*Rubber (NR) has insufficient resistance to oil and grease, so please avoid contact with these substances.

Product Feature Details

· Maintains proper belt tension and automatically absorbs chain slack, vibration, and shock
The basic structure consists of an arm pre-attached inside the Rosta suspension unit, with the outer shell in a flange type shape. Installation requires only a single center bolt, making it easy to maintain proper belt tension, absorb chain slack, and install components such as conveyor belt scrapers and pressure rollers.
