An O-ring is an annular packing with an O-shaped (circular) cross section that is fitted in a groove and compressed appropriately to prevent the leakage of a wide variety of fluids such as oil, water, air, and gas. By making full use of synthetic rubber suitable for a variety of purposes, it is possible to withstand long-term use and use under harsh conditions.
O-ring sealing principle
The sealing principle of the O-ring is that the compressed O-ring maintains the repulsive force to seal.

Properties required for O-ring materials
Since O-rings exert their sealing force by the stress generated by crushing, it is fundamentally required that they have an appropriate amount of stress within a range that does not cause abnormal deformation.
This basic property must not be lost during use. Synthetic rubber is one of the best material with these properties.
However, it is difficult to cover all of these properties with a single material, so it is necessary to use different materials according to each application.

Precautions for storage and storage period
Please note the following points when storing O-rings.

The storage period are for products that are stored indoors in standard packaging, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and high humidity.
NOK has established the Shonan Development Center to further reinforce the material technologies it has cultivated over many years.
